Day 1

A warm welcome to Romania will be extended to you by your certified guide, upon meeting you on Bucharest Henri Coanda Airport. Depending on your arrival flight, after check in, you can enjoy a short tour of Bucharest and a visit to the Christmas fair. In the evening, get yourself prepared for your winter adventure in Transylvania!

Day 2

We start the day early, as there will be a long road ahead of us, towards the beautiful city of Sibiu.

We will cross the mountains through Olt Valley, a spectacular road, and will visit one of the most important monasteries in Romania, at Cozia. Romania has rich Ortodox legacy and most of the brave Vallachian princes were building churches following important victories or other major events in their life.

Continuing our journey, we will arrive in Sibiu, where we will enjoy a traditional lunch. After we relax a bit in the hotel, get ready for an evening walking tour of the city, which will include the following landmarks: the Stairs Passage, Huet Square, Evangelical Church, Liars’ bridge, Small Square, Council Tower and The Big Square - where usually the Christmas Fair is organized. Dinner at your choice in one of the many restaurants in Sibiu.

Day 3

Today we go deeper into the heart of Transylvania and we stop on our way in Alba Iulia.

It is a city of major significance to Romanians, as it was both a Roman Legion base, a medieval citadel, as well as the city of the Great Union and the place of King’s Ferdinand coronation, which took place here in 1922.

After a tour of the fortress and a delicious lunch, we will head towards Cluj Napoca, where we will spend the night. The city has a very interesting history, as it hosted the largest Hungarian community in Romania for many centuries, as the historical capital of Transylvania. Today it impresses its visitors with its unique baroque architecture that can be admired on most of the buildings in the city center. The most important place in the city is the Union Square, dominated by Saint Mihail Cathedral, a stunning Gothic church built in the 15th century.

After a few hours of rest at the hotel, we start our city tour, visiting the Christmas Fair, considered the most beautiful in the country.

Day 4

After a nice rest and a good breakfast, we start to get in shape for another exciting day.

Driving through the snow, we head towards Turda Salt Mine, ranked by many international publications as one of the most interesting underground sites in the world. The salt mine, which dates back to the 17th century, was used for everything from cheese storage to a bomb shelter, in the Second World War. Today it has been transformed into an incredible underground theme park, where you can find an underground lake with paddle and row boats, a bowling alley, and amphitheater and even a Ferris wheel.

We will end the day in Sighisoara, probably the best-preserved medieval citadel in Europe, still inhabited in our days and part of UNESCO World Heritage sites. With its Saxon architecture, cobbled streets and vivid colored houses, the city reminds you about the medieval times of the 13th century.

In the evening we will take a tour of the citadel, admire Christmas decorations.

Day 5

Continuing our winter adventure, we drive South and visit an unique Saxon village, much loved by Prince Charles: Viscri. Due to its location, on a secondary road, behind the hills, the village was bypassed by invaders. Thus it managed to keep its local architecture, as well as its traditions, unchanged. Here we will see one of the best-preserved rural fortification in Transylvania.

Second on our list for today is the famous Bran Castle, better know as Dracula's Castle. You will find the reality behind the legend, but have some garlic in your pockets, too!

In the evening we will arrive in the beautiful city of Brasov. Located right at the edge of the forest, the city was in the past the richest city in Transylvania - and this can be seen in its impressive architecture. After we check in at the hotel, we will go for a tour of the city and visit the Christmas fair, our last for this tour.
